Please consider the resume below for middle school math or Chinese positions open at your school.
Although I presently teach Chinese, my first love is middle school. I enjoy making learning fun by bringing as many real-life experiewnces into the classroom as possible.
In math class we've baked, designed castles, made shrinky-dinks, and played plenty of games to help students master skills and grow in their enthusiasm for math. My favorite thing to do is encourage students who have not excelled in math before by reminding them of how much their brains are developing right now. I tell them they may have abilities they never had before, and then I do everything possible to help them harness those new strengths. I've had many students who only passed before become A math students, and they feel great about it!
In Chinese class, we concentrate on standard pronunication and writing. Students have many opportunities during each class to talk and dialogue in Chinese with me, their classmates, or one of the puppets that routinely come to class. They also work intently on proper stroke order and the meditative aspects of calligraphy. Finally, we bring as much Chinese culture into class as we can with stories, food sampling, and films.
