I am an English teacher with over six years of practical experience working in countries such as Korea, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, and Australia.

I have a BA degree in English Literature and Religious Studies (double major).

I am currently working towards a Masters degree in TESOL (via distance learning) from one of the world's most respected Applied Linguistics departments - Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

Over the years, I have travelled extensively, but I would now like the opportunity to work in an International school in Bangkok  while applying the skills that I have acquired.

Educational Philosophy

As a teacher with over five years experience, I have come to realise that a teacher’s ability to
adapt and make one’s self flexible is essential to any second language learning classroom.
I pride myself on having these characteristics.

Experience

2005 – Present ESL Teacher Victoria English Language InstituteI am currently working as an ESL tutor to Primary to High school aged
children at an ESL school in Taichung, Taiwan.

2004 -2005 ESL Teacher Taiwan, Perfection ESL Training InstitutionI taught English to Kindergarten students. My responsibilities included
assessment of reading, writing, speaking and listening.

2003 -2004 Project Coordinator Catholic Times English CampThis position included preparing syllabus, hiring foreign and Korean
staff and other general co-ordination activities.

2002 -2003 IELTS Instructor at Sejong University, Seoul, KoreaDuring this time I assumed a lecturing style of teaching to teach future
international students the basics of the International English
Language Testing System. We covered basic strategies to improve
the overall band-score of the IELTS examination, as well as followinga four-week intensive programme.

2001 -2002 IELTS Instructor and Marketing Co-ordinator for ModernAge
Institute of Learning, New ZealandAt this time I taught the IELTS examination to prospective universityentrance students in Wellington, New Zealand. I taught a twelve-week
intensive IELTS course to advanced learners, as well as General
English courses to pre-intermediate – upper intermediate students.
After relating particularly well to my students, I was asked to helpdevelop a marketing strategy working in the international marketingoffices of (at that time) New Zealand’s largest language academy-
chain. I was based in South Korea, but also worked in Japan, China,
and Russia (attending the Moscow workshop in April 2002). At thistime I gave seminars and met with international agents as part of our
extensive international marketing strategy.

After graduation I immediately put my University degree to use bytravelling to South Korea to teach English as a Second Language for
a private language Academy in Taejon. At this time I taught ESL to
students of all ages (Kindergarten to Adult level) and got some
excellent experience upon which to base a further career in this field. I
enjoyed and excelled in the education industry and decided to further
my career in education.
