PERSONAL OBJECTIVE:
To teach ESL in China, to apply my TESOL education by being an exciting and patient ESL teacher while enjoying the hospitality of China.
EXPERIENCE:
Teaching English – South Korea Academy: 2004-2005
I was a very successful teacher in South Korea, and learned many techniques for teaching children. I developed many worksheets, and exercises to teach basic and more advanced English use. The students ranged from 5 year old children to adult doctors in the community.
Student Council – Temiskaming District Secondary School: 1997
The student council which I was a part of organized student events, debated ways to make student life better, and managed student funds. I was in charge of Special Events, therefore I learned how to organize large scale events and make a budget.
Captain of New Liskeard Baseball Team: 1997
Besides organizing and leading practices, my goal was to keep a mature and positive attitude, keep interest up and motivate team members to have fun. My extended responsibilities included giving special attention to certain team members.
Computer Technician – Computer Options: 1997-2000
My job was to educate customers about computers, especially those who were new to the technology. Also I learned to solve problems with hardware and software, assemble new computers, replace components and give customers strategic advice.
Guelph International Resource Center (G.I.R.C.): 2000 - 2001
While working for G.I.R.C. I wrote and made an educational video documentary about Co-operative business in Canadian History. This video was designed to educate adolescent students on the advantages of co-operative business, and teach them about Canada’s rich history developing the co-operative business concept. This project was funded by the Canadian Government and is currently in use by Canadian schools.
Treeplanter – Outland Reforestation: 2001-2002
Being a treeplanter means being very self motivated to work hard everyday, living in isolated parts of the country far away from cities and towns, and planting trees. I have planted over 100,000 trees in my lifetime. I am very proud of my contribution to the environment.
Customer Service – Intel Services Canada - 2003
My responsibilities were as a customer service phone agent. I connected with people over the phone to listen to concerns, answer questions and offer standard and creative solutions. I made an above average number of successful calls.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
I just finished an exciting year in South Korea. I am eager to continue teaching in China.
I also have experience in many forms of media. I was a volunteer at a community radio station and organized my own weekly radio show playing various types of music, completed a full educational video documentary, enjoy the use computer programs like Photoshop and Sonic Foundry for visual art and music production. I have been a player in the local music scene participating in bands, musical recordings, and regular improvisational sessions. My love for music is my main hobby leading me to travel, explore new worldly music, and explore ways to extend my enlightenment in the musical universe.
I am working towards completing a Professional Diploma in the Global College TESOL program which includes ten specializations. The Global College is a superior program to other TESOL programs. I have completed the in-class part of the course and will now work to finish my specializations by correspondence.
Being a part of Canadian culture means respecting the cultures from around the world, standing up for the people of our world, and seeking to protect the environment and it’s inhabitants. I have always taken an interest in the different cultures presented to me by friends, instructors and community members who are from overseas countries. I have a good education and interest not only in my native religion of Christianity, but also have a large interest in learning other religions. I enjoy reading a wide range of books about history, philosophy, art, travel, and literature. I take this enthusiasm for life into the classroom with me and present a lesson plan that is rewarding on many levels. Over the course of my career and lifetime I would like to travel to all parts of the globe be a part of other cultures, and share my enthusiasm for language and working together to attain an essence of sharing and positive relations.
